#MusicMonday: Coldplay's 2 New Singles by Willy

Coldplay you’re doing it right. They’re back with a new album called “Ghost Stories”, which will be released on May 16^th, and so far they have released two songs from it: “Midnight” and “Magic”, the latter being the first official single and I am addicted to both of them. 

These two songs display the new direction Chris Martin & Co. are aiming with the upcoming album, which is fresh but it doesn’t drift apart too much from their signature sound. To me it is the perfect mix between “Parachutes” Coldplay and “Viva La Vida" Coldplay”. To be honest I am thrilled they’re over their happy tunes from their last two albums, it was getting old and it wasn’t the Coldplay that I loved in the first place (“Yellow” and “Shiver” are timeless to me).

Both songs were performed live for the first time on the opening night of the iTunes Festival SXSW 2014 and it was amazing!  (You can stream the full show by clicking HERE). They also performed two new songs called “Always In My Head" and “Another’s Arms”.

“Midnight” recorded in 2013, was released as a promotional single on February 25^th 2014 accompanied by a music video and the announcement of their upcoming new music. It was written by Coldplay and Jon Hopkins and produced also by Hopkins. “Magic” on the other hand was written by the band and co-produced by them with Paul Epworth (who also has produced for Adele, Azealia Banks, Friendly Fires), Rik Simpson (Jay-Z, Portishead) and Daniel Green. A music video for it is yet to be released.
