News: Panic! at the Disco's new video 'Nicotine' by Willy

Brendon Urie in the music video for "Nicotine"
You probably haven’t heard but Panic! At the Disco is still making music. In fact, they have never stopped. It may be true that they aren’t as huge as they were back in 2005 with their album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” and a lot of changes have been made ever since but the new direction of their music works great for them. Today they released the music video for the fourth single of their fourth studio album “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!” which was released last October through Fueled By Ramen.

The new single is called “Nicotine” and it was an instant favorite for me the first time I listened to the album. It was written by P!ATD members Brendon Urie and Dallon Weekes, and Amir Salem, and the music video was directd by Kai Regan ("New Perspective").  Its meaning is very straightforward and it’s about how hard it is to quit a person, comparing it how hard it is to quit nicotine (cigarretes).

"'Nicotine' is about that girl (or guy) that you know is bad for you but you just keep going back," Urie told Rolling Stone. "It's that drunk text you know you shouldn't answer. It feels good in the moment but the next day, you know, you get that shame hangover – kind of a personification of addiction."

About the music video, Urie told Alternative Press: "We were excited to work with Kai again. He's super creative and we love his visual aesthetic. We managed to film almost the whole thing in one day at a cemetery in Queens. It was freezing cold and snowing out but totally worth it. The end result looks amazing."

I think many people can relate to the song. Addictive and toxic relationships happen more often than a lot of us may be aware of and sometimes its good to breakaway from them regardless of how good they feel.

Panic! At The Disco also announced the dates for THE GOSPEL TOUR W/WALK THE MOON, MAGIC MAN + YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE on their website which you can check out and purchase the tickets HERE.

You can also check out the music videos for the 3 previous singles off of “Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!” by clicking on their names: “Miss Jackson”, “This Is Gospel” and the controversial “Girls/Girls/Boys”.
