Ever since the Grammy performance of “Drunk in Love” there’s been a handful of remixes but my favorite so far has got to be KanYe’s (although The Weeknd’s is really good too). This remix came out last week and it kind of made an impression due its lyrics referencing KanYe’s relationship with Kim Kardashian. KimYe (like the media calls them) aren’t strangers to media attention, this time he talks about the sex position that got Kim pregnant and when he knew he wanted to marry her, how he is a visionary (not a pastor and he doesn’t do “missionary” and the “Bound 2”. I really really like how blunt KanYe’s verse is and how he just doesn’t care. After all is a song about sex, right? #surftbort

Nicki Minaj - Looking A** Ni**a:
In the past week Onika Tanya Maraj a.k.a Nicki
Minaj made a statement of how hard she is working to make her new album, “The
Pink Print”, her best to date. Last year she said her next album would focus
more on Hip Hop and it seems like she stuck to the plan by the release of her
new single “Looking A** Ni**a”. Apart from the controversy of the N word and
the use of a picture of Malcolm X, the song is HOT! I think this is the Nicki
that was meant to be before “Super Bass” and “Starships” and to be honest
nobody else is doing what she is doing in the industry right now. About the
news itself MTV News said “For the most part, Nicki flows a similar rhyme
pattern throughout, stacking multisyllabic bars ending each bar with the
controversial N-word. She blasts men for staring at her butt, lying about their
finances and exaggerating on their drug-dealing past.” 2014 looks promising for
Minaj.
Miguel - Simplethings:
Miguel became one to watch the first time I listened to “All I Want Is You” back in 2010. With his sophomore album “Kaleidoscope Dream” he proved me right and didn’t disappoint. This time he contributed with a song called “Simplethings” for the Volume 2 of the HBO hit series Girls’s soundtrack. I stopped watching the show because it annoyed me but I find the song amazing! “Simplethings” has Miguel’s R&B signature sound all over it with heavy bass and honest lyrics. In what is seems to be a conversation between him and his girlfriend, they both express what kind of simple things they want in a relationship: “She said I just want someone to, smoke with me babe, and lay with me babe, and laugh with me babe, I just want the simple things “ to which he replies “No I don't a model, I don't need a debutant, Just be a tough act to follow, you know, a free spirit, with a wild heart”, which serves as a reminded that those are the best moments in a relationship although we might get caught up with the material things. The R&B track is so smooth it works to start a Monday in a good mood and to end up a Sunday before going to bed.
